Ecarma - Cachuela Memoirs

For several years I've had this idea in my head that I've been wanting to write my family memoirs. This idea has come back several time and when I started noticing Uncles and Auntie's slowly passing away something inside me started ticking. I need to start gathering information before my parents generation dies off. I'll still be able to get a lot of information, but now that they're still alive, some well into their 80s, I don't have much time.

I haven't had any idea where to start, but it's coming to me slowly.

Here are some I've been thinking about and would like to start working on:
  • Gather any photos, videos, audio recordings, letters that already exist and archive them.
  • Talk to my sisters, cousins, aunts/uncles, great aunts/great uncles about making digital recordings of stories and archive them.
  • Get a family tree together on the Cachuela and the Ecarma side.
  • Have family get togethers where there are some of these materials for people to view and give input and give stories of anyone they remember.
  • Take basic writing classes, creative writing classes and memoir writing classes.
From what mama has said, Marie Ouano-Kim has been a bit proactive in gathering family information. Perhaps I can talk to her about what she has and we can help each other put things together.
